and on the topic of reading..

I've found an alternative way to read - audiobooks!!! :) works just as great - if not better than- real books. Besides, they can be listened to in the car, at work, while working out. :) just not great to listen to in bed at night, 'cause.. you end up falling asleep in 2 minutes and have no idea where you left off listening.

been a while - again..

oh, wow.. it's been a while again... Life moves a bit too fast these days. I can't believe my little monkey already turned 2!!! Looks like last time i updated she was around 6 months.. wow. where to start then? :) Screw it.. I'll just start fresh. Too much have happened in the past 1.5 years to even start making sense of it.


I am still at the same company, work's going well, me and miss M just moved to a new apartment, a bit further from work, but.. it's suuuch a nice upgrade. Just about double the size of the old place, 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, hardwood floors and fully renovated... It's an older building, but.. the apartment is fantastic. :) And.. for M's birthday last week we adopted 2 little kittens.. 2 flea infested scrawny little things, but.. oh, so sweet. They got a flea bath before i let them loose in the apartment, and got flea drops right afterwards, and they're already so much better. :) No more fleas, and they've put on a little bit of weight, and seem to be adjusting well.


And.. M looooves them!!! She carries them around the house, gives them kisses and hugs, and helps them to the litter boxes, like she's saw me do in the beginning. She can say their names 'weeeenn' and 'simpy' ;) (that's Ren and Stimpy for all of you that don't speak 'baby'. ;) )

M started pre-school about a month ago, and has developed SO much since then.. she's learned so many new words, she speaks SO much more now, she can sing the whole abc song and count to 10 now.. :) even if she skips the number six, every other time. :) She's still a bit upset when i drop her off, but.. she's only upset for about 30 seconds, and then she's off playing with the other kids.


And.. me? i am happy. Finally happy again. Much less drama in my life at the moment, so very nice with a peaceful life again. I never imagined I'd be a single mom, working around the clock, but.. we're making it work. M is such a wonderfully easy child, she's the sunshine itself, with an amazing personality.. If she'd been any other way, it would have been a whole different story. My job has also been wonderfully accommodating, with everything from letting me and her use one of the training offices for after-hours work, to letting me work from home if needed.

Her dad? He's living with a new family in Central CA. Reasonable distance away. :)

aaanyways... should probably try to get some work done.

I'll be back. :D Hopefully not 1.5 years to the next update. ;)

i used to be an avid reader

but.. after Maddie's arrival i have yet to finish ONE book.. :) well.. one book of my own, that is. I've finished several of hers, per day, but.. none of my own. I bought the last book at the airport coming back here in October (i usually buy a book at the airport, it's become kind of a tradition by now..) but I haven't made it thru even a third of it.. I do miss reading, but.. these days as soon as I have a moment to myself after she's gone down for the evening, I either finish up laundry or dishes, or i fall asleep.. :)

oh well. I can always take up reading again when she starts reading on her own.. (i am going to let her read 'pet cemetary', like i did when i was 10 or something.. scared me so bad that i had to sleep in my parents bed..) And until this day I am reluctant to stand near a bed, out of an innate fear that there might be something under the bed, that might cut my Achilles tendon..

Besides - at the rate she's developing, she'll be ready to read in something like a month.. :)

thank god it's Friday today, btw.. i am SO tired today. :(

time flies..

when you're having fun.. :) or when you have too much to do?
have now been back here for a month, and i barely have time to breathe. Maddie's been at daycare for a month, and seems to looove it - at least so far. I am trying my darndest to balance work, pick up and drop off at daycare, and sick child with me at work, and i have a newfound respect for all you single parents out there.. You do an amazing job!

but.. i think we've got it down, at least so far... i wake up, feed the mini-pterodactyle, i try to get ready while she snoozes, get her ready and out the door. Drop her off at daycare shortly before 9am, get my behind to work, run over to the daycare at lunch to see her for a few, then i pick her up around 5.45, and then home.. We snuggle for a few, then she's out cold for the night around 8, when i get some time to myself to do laundry, pack her bag for the next day, and just catch up on My stuff. :) but it's all worth it.

we went to see a couple of friends here the other day, who have a 6 day old lil' boy.. soooo tinyyyy!! but ohhhh, so cute!!! I thought Maddie was small when she was born, but this boy is 1.5 lbs smaller than her.. sooo very precious, and i hope they become friends when they get a little bit older. :) would be awesome!!

Maddies first flu shot

Maddie got her first flu shot today.. And as usual, she did great! She frowned for like 5 seconds, and then she was all smiles and happy faces again.. I think it hurt ME more than her. :(

I am hoping she does better this time than the last time, as she got sooo sick from her last sets of shots, with high fever and lethargy. Poor thing.

But, fingers crossed.

She has grown, and is currently in the 90% percentile in height, and 75% in weight. Tall and slender. :)

Other than that, nothing new to report from here. Heading up to Lemoore for the weekend, and then next week is only a 3 day work week. Yaaay! :)

(not that i am complaining abt work, not even close. It's really nice and mellow so far, not too much to do yet, at all)

Weather is still nice, around 20 degrees celsius.

whoa..

'more frequent updates', eh? maaaybe not. but i'll try to be better from now on, how's that? at least more than once every 8 months. :)

so.. loads have happened, again. Not quite sure even where to start this time. Maddie's turning 6 months tomorrow - 6 months??? Where has time gone to?? It was just yesterday we came home from the hospital,and just yesterday she was just a wee little package, not capable of doing much.

She's sitting up now, and waving when you say 'buh-bye'.. She's smiling, and laughing, and blows bubbles. Rolls over occasionally, and tries to crawl, and gets utterly frustrated when she's not getting anywhere. :)

I'll try to post some photos when i get home later today (if i remember..)
